Veterans and government benefits
Our focus on veterans and their families does not imply a government affiliation, special entitlement, guaranteed approval, or military discount. We do not represent the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or the Department of Defense. Private Final Expense, Indexed Universal Life, and Mortgage Protection policies are separate from SGLI, VGLI, VALife, VMLI, and VA burial benefits. Visit VA.gov for official program details. Review existing coverage carefully before considering a replacement.
Final Expense insurance
Final Expense insurance is generally a smaller life insurance policy intended to help beneficiaries pay expenses after death. Benefits, premium guarantees, exclusions, and any graded or waiting periods depend on the contract. VA burial benefits are separate and depend on eligibility and circumstances.
Indexed Universal Life (IUL)
IUL is life insurance, not a direct stock-market investment or a guaranteed retirement income plan. Interest credits are calculated using the policy’s index formula, subject to caps, participation rates, spreads, floors, and other terms. Non-guaranteed elements may change. Policy charges can reduce cash value even when the interest-crediting floor is zero. Sufficient funding is required to maintain coverage; loans, withdrawals, and surrender charges may reduce available values and death benefits and may have tax consequences. Review guaranteed and non-guaranteed policy illustrations and consult your tax adviser about your circumstances.
Mortgage Protection life insurance
Mortgage Protection describes private life insurance intended to help beneficiaries manage mortgage or household costs after a covered death. It does not automatically pay your mortgage, insure the property, protect a lender against default, or provide unemployment or disability benefits. Any optional riders have separate terms. It is distinct from private mortgage insurance (PMI) and the VA’s Veterans’ Mortgage Life Insurance (VMLI). Term coverage ends at the end of its term unless continued under the policy’s provisions.
